Biography

Deborah’s love for children is the foundation of her gentle, caring, patient and joyful approach to teaching.  

Deborah began her ballet and piano training as a young child.  She continued throughout college, and earned her Master of Science in Child Development from the University of Georgia.  Upon moving to London, England, Deborah performed with MMM International, received her Dance Education Degreeand developed “Curriculum for Dance in the Schools,” a program accepted by Queen Elizabeth and incorporated into schools throughout the UK.  

When Deborah, Mark and their four daughters moved to Colorado Springs, CO, Deborah became the dance specialist at the prestigious Bemis Art School for Children.  She was invited to teach art and music as well, which she did with much delight.  Also in Colorado, Deborah taught ballet at the World Ice Arena to help competitive ice skaters perform with grace and poise. 

Upon moving to Wisconsin, Deborah earned her K-12 Art Education at UW Eau Claire and reinstated her Suzuki piano training.  Deborah currently presents Artist-in-Residency programs, combining visual arts with music and dance for schools throughout Wisconsin and is a guest lecturer on developing creativity and self-esteem in young children. Deborah directs the Performing Arts School of Dance and Music, offering instruction which is based on the development of each child’s inner spirit—the love, excitement and joy of moving gracefully and creatively and playing the piano confidently and beautifully.
